We Decided Brazilian was on the menu this Friday night and headed over to Sao Paulo's. Being our first time there, we were pleased with the dimmed, relaxed atmosphere. Decorated with smiling faces, we sat at a booth under Ines Batllo's incredible paintings. Although we went in to use Entertainment's buy one get one entrée coupon, we ended up getting some chips, queso and salsa too. First off, the chips are a fried wanton (similar to Chinese cuisine) which definitely is a pleasant surprise. Second, the queso and salsa was astonishing! I simply can't describe the queso's unique creamy flavor other than amazing. The salsa I can describe... it had a smoky flavor from either chipotle or ancho peppers. With help from our waiter, we decided to order the Churrasquinho Platter and the Rocambole Alexandra using a buy one get one free coupon. The Platter was all around delicious with the yucca root being an interestingly crunchy twist. However the Rocambole Alexandra had a strong shrimp flavor that overpowered the beef and rest of the dish. We'll probably steer clear from that one in the future and try the Camarao da Vo Naica next. When we saw another table receive the odd-looking pumpkin bowl we knew we'd be back to give that a try.
We got: | Verdict: |
Rocambole Alexandra | so so |
Churrasquinho Platter | Good |
Queso and Salsa | Absoulately Fantastic! |
Coupon from Entertainment: B1G1 free entree (up to $16).
Total - $2x.00
Overall
The place is cozy, relaxing, and decorated with purchasable art. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful at making menu decisions (ask for Charles). The food is delicately prepared with great ingredients with out of the ordinary flavors. We'll definitely be going back.
4 Stars
The queso is an absolutely must have item for an appetizers.
Tips:
Every day from 2-7pm save on appetizers and drinks on the happy hour menu.
Ask for some chipotle ranch or ranchero sauce with your meal, they make great dipping sauces.
